Open Week Friday 16^th July- Sunday 25^th July

In ideal weather conditions, Sunday saw the conclusion of our very successful Open Week 2010.  An 18-hole stroke competition off the blue markers ensured a challenging contest and a fitting finale to a great week’s golf.  The varied programme provided an opportunity for golfers at all levels to enjoy their game with the team competitions proving to be very popular.  We wish to express our gratitude to our generous sponsors throughout the week and to the many members and visitors who supported the various competitions.  Unfortunately the weather caused the deferral of two competitions and those will be rescheduled shortly.

Local Timmy Murphy plays in Qualifying British Seniors Pro. Championships

Timmy Murphy last week played in the prestigious Qualifying British Seniors professional Championships in Panmure near Carnaustie. There were 11 places in which two had been secured before hand. This meant that 11 played for 9 spots in a play off. Timmy scored a double bogie on 17^th to finish 2 off the play off spot, having been 4 over after 6. Hard luck to Timmy but making it so far was a great accomplishment.

Dates for your Diary

Friday July 30^th: Fred Daly Trophy – Munster semi finals and final at Dungarvan GC.  West Waterford play Douglas in the semi final with the winners progressing to the final in the afternoon.

Sunday August 15^th: Senior Cup – Munster semi finals and final at Castletroy GC.  In the semi final West Waterford play Limerick GC.  The final takes place in the afternoon.

Friday and Saturday 13^th and 14^th August – Minor Scratch Cup at West Waterford.

Waterford Ladies football Classic

Owing to the inclement weather conditions at the weekend, the final day of the Ladies football classic has been deferred to Saturday 7^th August.

High Handicap 13-hole Stableford

The Tuesday high Handicap continues each Tuesday during the summer and is now a 13-hole competition. All handicap levels are welcome and we hope to see lots of our new members, where you can meet new friends and improve your game

Al Eile Qualifier

This is an 18-hole Stableford open competition held on each Wednesday during the summer months.  As well as the weekly prizes entrants can qualify for the Grand Final which will be held on Sunday 17^th of October 2010.
