Winter League 2010
Following the floods, the big freeze and the welcome thaw, the winter league got underway on Thursday. Numbers were a bit on the low side over the first two days, but Saturday saw the resumption of normal service as the fairways filled once again. Sunday's timesheet filled in no time as the sun returned to West Waterford. Round 1 of the Winter League continues from Wed Jan 20th –Sun Jan 24th. Team captains are requested to contact their respective team members in order to ensure maximum participation in the league.

Junior mid-term competitions will take place on Wednesday 17th February at 10am and Friday 19th at 10am.
Sunshine Golf Classic 2010
It's that time of year again and planning has begun for our Annual Sunshine Golf Classic which will be held at Easter weekend. Because of the high numbers of people who played last year it has been decided to that the Classic would start on Wednesday March 31st will continue until Easter Sunday. April 4th. This will give more people the opportunity to participate. The decision also ensures that everybody has a chance to enjoy playing in West Waterford, contribute to the fund-raising and win one of the prizes from a fund of €8000.More details next week.
Park Hotel Awards Night
Following a superb performance throughout the year and his unbeaten record in the Senior Cup Competition which contributed to bringing West Waterford its first Senior Pennant, Mark Shanahan claimed The Park Hotel sports star of the month for August 2009. Mark will receive his award on Saturday 23rd January. Well done to him and best wishes for 2010
New Competition for all three Dungarvan Clubs
A new initiative that will involve members of the three local golf clubs taking part in what will be known as "The Dungarvan Masters" is scheduled to take place in 2010.
During the months of April, May and June the players from Dungarvan, Gold Coast and West Waterford golf clubs participating in the respective Clubs Open Competitions can enter the Dungarvan Masters Competition for a fee of €10.
The individual player's best 3 aggregate scores will determine their qualification for the Masters Final Day in Mount Juliet. The number of qualifying positions made available will be determined by number of entrants. We will have more details on this event early in the New Year.
