Annual General Meetings

On schedule this year, the Annual General Meeting of the Men's and Ladies Clubs took place on Sunday last 27th November. The main topics were the review of the 2011 golf year and the election of officers for the 2012 Season.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the outgoing Captains John Keane and Joan Sheehan who through their dedicated efforts over the past year have contributed to the ongoing success of West Waterford Golf Club.

I also wish the very best of luck to the Club President, Gerry Carolan and to our newly elected Captain, Tom Power and his committee for 2012 and best wishes also to Lady Captain, Eithne Ashby and the ladies committee for the coming year.

The 2012 Men's Club Officers and Committee for 2012 are:

South East Junior Alliance

Congratulations to club members Terry O'Callaghan and Lanson Kelly who were placed second and third respectively at Waterford Golf Club on Sunday last. Next outing is at Clonmel Golf Club on 8th January 2012.

Open Autumn/Winter Competition

Open ladies and gents competition continues each Wednesday during the Autumn/Winter season. Entry fee is €15 including homemade soup and brown bread.

Munster Young Golfer of the Year

Congratulations to Dungarvan Jack Leacy on winning the award as Munster Junior golfer of the year for 2011. This is the second year in a row that the title has come to the Deices with our own Gary Hurley claiming the title in 2010. All in all a major boost for junior golf in the area.

Scramble

Sunday 18th December – Annual Christmas 9-hole scramble for ladies and gents at 1:00 pm. Ceol agus Craic to follow!

Friday night is Cards night at West Waterford.

Starting on Friday 2nd December card lovers can enjoy a game of 45 in the comfortable surrounds of the stove. All are welcome and if you fancy a pint or two we can arrange transport home.

Winter League 2012

Preparations for the 2012 Winter League will commence shortly with a view to starting our league in late December. Check on the club website and text system regarding details?

Society News at West Waterford

Killeagh society are playing next Saturday 3rd December at 10am

Ardmore/Clashmore will hold their Christmas society outing on Saturday 17th December.

The Brickey Society outing is scheduled for Christmas week, date to be confirmed.
