Gents Notes:- w/e 18th Dec 2011

Captain’s drive-in Sunday 18th December

Sunday afternoon saw a record crowd turn out to welcome the incoming Captains for 2012 - Tom Power, Eithne Ashby and Junior Captain Thomas Conway at the beginning of their term in office. Following the drive-in a 9-hole scramble was enjoyed by the large contingent of ladies and gents in ideal weather conditions. All the members would like to wish Tom, Eithne and Thomas every success for the coming year and if Sunday’s turnout is any indication, we have a great 2012 to look forward to.

Proceedings after the scramble were kicked off by Club President Gerry Carolan who welcomed and introduced the new Captains. The evening culminated with very welcome finger food, music provided by club member Mark Long and much seasonal banter.

Winter League 2012

The response to the winter league to date has been most encouraging with numbers on a par with last year’s record entry. Presently it looks as though we will have 22 teams competing for the Cole Memorial trophy. The formula for team selection is based on last year’s successful template and should provide another nail biting encounter as teams endeavor to gain a place in the Matchplay stages. The committee is aiming to have team listings posted before Wednesday 21st December. Team information is also available on www.wwestwaterfordgolf.com/ winter league. Any member still wishing to enter can still do so by placing name on late entry sheet posted on the club notice board.
