Sunshine Classic 2012

Our annual Sunshine Classic will take place from Monday 2^nd April to Sunday 8^th April Watch this space for further details over the coming weeks.

Gary maintains excellent form in Australia.

In the fourth week of his tour on the Australian amateur golf circuit Gary Hurley has once again shown his class by finishing in a tie for 4^th place at the New South Wales Medal Tournament on Thursday 2^nd February.  Unfortunately with three Irishmen in contention the final 36 holes were cancelled due to flooding on the course.  The good news however is that Gary along with team mates Niall Gorey and Reeve Whitson have secured their places in the NSW match play Championship at Elanora on Monday 6^th February.  With only the top 32 competing this is a major achievement from the Irish in a world class field.  There is still more work to be done but don’t rule out the possibility of an Irish victory.

Comeragh Oil Winter League 2012

Round 4 of our winter league has now reached the halfway stage.  Team captains have up until Sunday next 12^th February to encourage their teams to an extra effort to gain qualification. The top 2 teams are now locked together on 428 points and the top 11 teams have exceeded the 400 points mark.  At the bottom end of the table any of the remaining teams can still gain qualification for the matchplay stages.  With round 4 being played over 18 holes we anticipate a trojan effort from all team captains to get their respective teams over the finishing line.

Next junior competitions will be held during the midterm, Wednesday 15^th and Friday 17^th February  Tee time both days at 10am.

Winter League Matchplay

Sunday next sees the conclusion of the qualifying stages of the Comeragh Oil winter league.  The top 16 matchplay stage will commence on Monday Feb 13th and will run up until Sunday Feb 26th.  The quarter finals and semi finals will each be played over one week subject to weather conditions.  The League final will be played on Sunday March 25th.

South East League 2012

West Waterford has been drawn in Group 2 along with neighbours Dungarvan and Gold Coast.  Mitchelstown and East Cork complete the five team group with the opening round fixed for Mitchelstown on Sunday 19^th February at 11 am.  Remaining fixtures: 26/2/12 West Waterford, 3/3/12 East Cork, 11/3/12 Gold Coast, 25/3/12 Dungarvan.

Friday night is CARDS NIGHT at West Waterford.

Our next cards night will be held on Friday 24^th February 2012. Card lovers can enjoy a game of 45 in the comfortable surrounds of the stove.  All are welcome and if you fancy a pint or two we can arrange transport home!

West Waterford Challenge Cup update

Old Parish man Eamonn Power still holds a commanding lead with 33 pts, five shots ahead of the field.  Newcomer from Old Parish Tucker Curran shot 28 pts and joins Gissy (Mark Crotty) and Clashmore lads Vinny Cooney and Billy O’Mahoney.

Defending Champion Tommy Pratt has still to find form to move up the field.
