South East League 2012

West Waterford put in a spirited performance at Mitchelstown on Sunday last eventually losing out to East Cork on a 3.1/2 to 2.1/2 scoreline.  Our panel will take a rest on Sunday next when the home club plays host to the South East league. Gold Coast will provide the opposition at East Cork on Sunday 3rd March which is our next fixture.

Comeragh Oil Winter League 2012

At the halfway stage of the top 16 matchplay stage 28 of the 52 matches have been completed.  No team has yet progressed to the quarter finals and with all matches delicately poised we have a very exciting second week in store.  All matches must be completed by Sunday 26th March and those with outstanding matches are strongly advised to book tee times as soon as possible owing to a busy schedule for next weekend.  Quarter final pairings will be determined by an open draw which will take place in the clubhouse at 6.30 on Sunday evening 26th March.

The quarter finals and semi finals will each be played over one week subject to weather conditions.  The League final will be played on Sunday 25th March. Team details for quarter final matches will be available at the office following the draw and team captains are requested to announce their teams to committee as soon as possible. Our very popular Wednesday Open Competition continues every Wednesday.

A Date to Remember

Sunday 25th March  looks like being a very special day at West Waterford Golf Club.  Three major finals are down for decision namely Gents Winter League Final, Ladies Winter League Final and Challenge Cup Final.  With presentations to follow we can expect quite a day and a night to be enjoyed by all.  No doubt the social committee have a surprise or two in store.

Sunshine Classic 2012

Our annual Sunshine Classic will take place from Monday 2nd April  to Sunday 8th April  inclusive.  You could win a sunshine holiday for €2, ask for details at the office or at the bar. Congratulations to lady captai Eithne Ashby who was the first winner in our €2 Classic draw.

Friday night is CARDS NIGHT at West Waterford.

Our next cards night will be held on Friday 24th February 2012. Card lovers can enjoy a game of 45 in the comfortable surrounds of the stove.  All are welcome and if you fancy a pint or two we can arrange transport home!

West Waterford Challenge Cup update

Old Parish man Eamonn Power holds the lead by a shot from Ring man Gearoid Breathnach with 32pts playing for the Marine Bar.

There is a four way tie for 3rd place.  Tucker Curran, Vinny Cooney, Billy O’Mahoney and Gissy (Mark Crotty) with 28pts.

Tommy Pratt and Shane Dalton follow with 26pts while Dungarvan Pitch & Putt player John Charles has a respectable 24pts.
