Knockout Table

Comeragh Oil Winter League Final
Shinnecock Hills are 2011 Winter League winners by virtue of a hard earned victory over Wentworth on Sunday last. In the top match Philip Walsh defeated Nick O'Riordan and Tim McCarthy made it one-all by beating Ray Donnelly. John Begley beat Mark O'Sullivan on the 18th while Noel Conway accounted for Maurice Hallahan to level the tie at two games each. Terry O'Callaghan won against Niall Colleran on the 18th and Pat Power's victory over Noel Baldwin left the tie all square at three all with just two matches to go. Shinnecock captain Michael Cass brought his team's tally to four when he defeated John R Walsh. The final match on the course resulted in a win for Pa McCarthy over Jack French on the 18th hole and this sealed a 5-3 victory for Shinnecock. A large crowd was on hand for the presentation and all enjoyed the food and beverages served as always in style by Bridget and Marie. So the curtain comes down on another successful Comeragh Oil winter league and we look forward to more of the same for 2012.

Winter league Matchplay Rules
All playoffs will be decided by singles match play played off current handicaps. The lowest member of each team will play each other and the rest of the matches will follow in this order. The team with the least number of eligible players will dictate the number that will play in the match play, provided the team has a minimum of 7 eligible players.
All matches must be played to a finish within the timescale allotted for the particular round. In the event of opposing teams having an even number of players e.g. 6 or 8, the captains must nominate a pairing to playoff in the event of a tie. This must be agreed before any match takes place. On completion of their match the nominated pairing will engage in a sudden death playoff to decide the tiebreak.
